New Legislative Instrument for Child Visa Applications
From the 2nd of September 2026, LIN 26/081 Migration (Arrangements for Child Visa
Applications) Instrument 2026 will come into effect. This new Legislative Instrument will replace Arrangements for Child Visa Applications 2016/051 (IMMI
16/051) due to its scheduled expiry on the 30th of October 2026.
What has changed?
Key changes between LIN 2016/051 and LIN 26/081 are that forms for Child Migrant & Child Resident visas (classes AH & BT) can no longer be posted to Northbridge but instead must now be posted to the department's office at the Port of Melbourne.

What has remained the same?
LIN 26/081 continues the restrictions on applicants for adoption from Pakistan with Schedule 2 of the legislative instrument continuing to contain only Pakistan as a specified country where a visa application will not be valid where the applicant claims to have been adopted in Pakistan.
